I graduate high school in june 2007. I would like to Lose Weight (maybe 20 pounds) before my graduation. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could do to melt away the pounds?

Eat small sensible meals & exercise are the 2 most popular answers in our society. Take this from someone who has had & still does have eating disorders : ask your doctor !!!!!!!! I did so much damage to my body (heart & lungs included) and if you trust your doctor, then do it safely. Maybe ask them to refer you to a nutritionalist who will give you a healthy diet w/foods that you actually like. Good luck, chickie !!!!

I’m trying to diet, and everything I’ve tried is way to hard to follow. Does anyone have any suggestions on how and what I should eat? Or does anyone have a basic diet I can follow that you’re willing to share? Are there any free diets out there that are easy to follow? I’m trying to maintain muscle mass, but loose alot of fat as fast as possible.
Please help!
Thank you!

The Best Answer:

Basic Diet Consists of 3-4 days of eating the following foods at each meal (4-5 meals/day):
4-5 oz of fish, chicken, lean beef, turkey
4 cups of veggies of these types (broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, brussell’s sprouts, collard greens, spinach) – these are usually frozen and I measure out 4 cups total of any combination of them
1 tablespoon olive oil
seasonings to taste (salt, pepper, hot sauce, soy sauce – anything without calories). No need to limit salt intake here if you like to salt your foods.

Supplements consist primarily of:
Specially formulated blend of Antioxidants
Specially formulated blend of High-Potency B-Vitamins
Ripwire
Branched Chain Amino Acids (a lot!)
Several other esoteric supplements like 7-Keto (I’ll go into these in detail at a later time).

Then, every 4rd or 4th day my diet consists of (really!):

Pancakes
Haagen-Daazs ice cream
Snickers bars
Rice
Bread
Donuts
Pasta
Ice cream shakes
Fill in with your imagination…

Amounts? AS MUCH AS I COULD STUFF INTO MY BODY. I averaged 6,500 calories on these days.

Doesn’t sound right? Doesn’t sound possible? Doesn’t sound healthy?

Well…

The proof is in my fat loss — so I must be doing something right
As for health, my cholesterol is less than 170, my HDL/LDL ratio is great, my triglycerides are very low, and every indicator of health on a recent bloodwork was exceptional.

I WILL BE HONEST HERE!

The last 3 weeks or so coming up I’ll be a lot less liberal on the all-you-can-eat junk food days. In fact, I’ll only have a high carb meal at the end of the day on Monday and Thursday for the next 3 weeks. This is only in order to get to the very low bodyfat levels.

HOWEVER….

Remember what I’ve been eating along the way and still lost all this fat. I’ve done so NOT in spite of what I’ve been eating (important!!!), but a result of WHAT I’ve been eating, INCLUDING all of the junk food. Junk food has ACCELERATED MY FAT LOSS to this point.

This means if you want to get to a significantly good shape, you DON’T have to give up your favorite junk foods. In fact, you should PLAN THEM into your diet every 3-4 days. If you don’t, then you WON’T get the results you’re after — TRUST ME!

Then, when and IF… your progress stagnates should you then do the restrictions I mentioned I’ll be doing over the next 3 weeks.

It’s really pretty easy. You can find out more tips here:

Do nsaids interfere with a weight loss program?

I take 600 mg of prescription Ibuprofen 2 X a day. Will this medication interfere with a Weight Loss program? I hate to go through all that misery if the medicine is going to inhibit weight loss.

No it will not. Antidepressants and blood pressure medication will.

What overweight women and men have learned is that for years virtually every professional bodybuilder, informed fitness expert and successful personal trainer would tell you the same thing. Whether you want to accelerate the burning of excess body fat, boost your metabolic rate, heighten your thermogenic output or increase your energy level, there is nothing stronger or more effective than the "thermogenic cocktail" of Ephedra, Caffeine, and Aspirin (The E/C/A- Stack"). Patented formula and scientifically proven to work without diet or exercise.

What are the best ‘Weight Loss Diets’?

Hello, Im an 18year old.
162ish cm tall, 72kg’s, 19 years old.
Not overly over weight, but I have chubby areas.

What are the best weight loss supplements?

Ive tried exercising and dieting and I somehow manage to put on more weight. I used to be 64kgs and I keep putting on.

Please help.

thanks :)
I look @ weight watches and lite and easy.
But it costs alot of $$$,
any tablets out there that are great?

Eating carbs while trying to lose body fat is terribly inefficient. When in glycolysis (burning glucose as fuel) you have to lower your calories (which slows your metabolism) and exercise heavily to deplete your glycogen stores before burning body fat.

The core of the Atkins program is converting your body from glycolysis (burning glucose as fuel) to ketosis (burning fat as fuel). You need to keep your fat levels at >65% of your calories, if you don’t your body will still remain in glycolysis by converting 58% of excess protein into glucose (via gluconeogenesis).

You can have several cups a day of (mostly) lettuce and celery, cucumbers, radishes, mushrooms, peppers the first 2 weeks and more variety of vegetables thereafter add 5 grams per day additional (20 grams day first 2 weeks, 25grams 3rd week, 30grams 4th week etc) Keep your carbs at less than 9grams per hour to control insulin.

It takes minimum of 3 days to convert your body to ketosis, (but only one bite to convert back to glycosis) you will probably feel sluggish the first week but most people feel better than ever thereafter.

Ground flax seed (2-3 Tbsp) 1/4 cup of water, cinnamon, artificial sweetener, mix in a raw egg – let sit 10 min to absorb liquid, put some cream cheese in the middle and nuke for 1.5 min. for hot cereal or 2 min. for more of a muffin type thing. Great low carb, high fiber treat.
————————————–…
I recommend the new plan but you have to follow it specifically read the book or the website (www.atkins.com). This is closer to the original (1972) plan, but its very simplistic:

You will lose more body fat eating protein and fat (don’t eat protein alone) than not eating AT ALL. To Lose Weight fast eat all you want but nothing but meat, eggs, healthy oils, mayo, butter and half an avocado a day (you’ll need added potassium). Keep the calories high and the fat percentage high, at least 65% of calories. Adding in green vegetables & some cheese will continue Weight Loss but at a slower pace.

Your body won’t release fat stores if you lower calories below what it needs. It will slow your metabolism to compensate and store every spare ounce as fat. If you continue lowering your calories, it will continue lowering that set point, til you can survive off nothing and store fat on anything. The body will only release it’s fat stores if it knows there is plenty of food.

Simple carbohydrates (sugar, flour, bread, cereal, pasta, potatoes, rice) triggers insulin which can store the calories you eat into fat. The more protein you eat the more the fat burning hormone glucagon is released. The more carbohydrate you eat the more the fat storage hormone insulin is released.

Simple carbs are addictive and can be disastrous to our health. The best way to break the addiction is NO carbs for 3 days. Make a huge batch of deviled eggs and eat one every time you want "something" have huge omelets for breakfast, with bacon, a lil onion, peppers, mushrooms & cheese. Pork chops for lunch. Get pork rinds and eat them with tuna salad. Steak for dinner. Make a huge sugar free cheese cake for dessert. Eat so much you won’t feel deprived of anything. By the fourth day, your addiction will be gone and you can start making healthy choices.

High insulin levels promote inflammation, weight gain, hunger and unbalance other hormones. Controlling your insulin level will balance out other hormones & allow human growth hormone (HGH) to be produced naturally so you will gain lean muscle even without exercise. Any exercise will greatly increase your muscle mass with high HGH levels.

Once you get near your goal, you start adding 5 carbs every week til you gain weight, then you subtract 10 carbs. That would give you your personal carb level (everyone is different and it depends on how active you are.) As long as you remain <9 carbs per hour, you will maintain insulin control, and shouldn’t gain weight. Many people gain weight on high carb, then switch to low carb to lose weight & then are shocked when they return to high carb that they gain weight. Many people can return to moderate carb levels but very few can really eat all they want of sugar and maintain weight or health.

Dr.Atkins was a cardiologist, low carb was a health plan easier sold as a "diet" Read any of his books for easily understandable science. Lutz "Life without Bread" & Taubes "Good calories, Bad calories" are excellent books that dispel all the nutrition myths.

Reducing body fat and increasing muscle mass will have you in awesome shape in no time. Good luck!

Well, i really want this shirt. But it doesnt have it in my size. So im trying to lose weight to be able to buy it. (I’ve been wanting to Lose Weight for awile). So how much weight do you have to lose to go a clothing size down? 2 clothing size down? 3 clothing size down?

My experience seems to be about the same as the other responders before me. 10 pounds loss got me from waist 34 to 33. I want to get to 32 so I guess that’s another 10 pounds. Bummer!
