For years we have been told to diet the excess fat from our bodies and throw in some fast walking to hasten the process. The trouble with this is that the low calorie restricted diet would throw the body into starvation mode with the body holding onto the fat and using precious lean muscle tissue for energy.

This would “Lower Your Metabolism” causing greater muscle loss and once the diet was broken the original fat would return and you would have greater chance of gaining even more fat creating a

“A Vicious Cycle”

Eventually, your body would become used to the diet and then you will reach a point where nothing was happening. So what do you do now?

Try weight loss supplements, creams, massage, toning tables, and drugs. You should know by now that these don’t work. There is a better way and it is

“Strength Training”

Many studies are showing that Strength Training is a far superior method for weight loss. (Ladies, you won’t bulk up by using weights, you don’t have the testosterone to get big and muscular, so don’t worry).

If you are not incorporating strength training into your Weight Loss Program then you can look forward to disappointing results.

The days of strength training three to five days a week in the gym, an hour at a time are long gone. That just doesn’t work as a plateau is reached after three to four weeks and nothing you do will get you off it.

All that is required is one short strength-training workout a week done at home or in the gym and this will melt away more fat than you would have thought possible.

Fats, Figures and Cardio Work

We’ve already found out that by increasing the functional muscle on your body, you increase your resting metabolic rate. Due to this higher metabolic rate you can now eat more calories, which means that you won’t need to starve anymore to lose weight.

In a sense, fewer calories have to be cut back from our daily intake of food and successful dieting (provided that you eat the right foods) will become more likely.

As far as Fats are concerned, they’re burned from the body when cells oxidize to release energy in the form of exercise. When exercise is done slowly to moderately for 20 to 30 minutes, then the majority of energy is taken from the fat stores.

It’s important to understand that the loss of fat comes from fat cells all over the body, not just from one or more specific areas. Therefore, fat reduction of a certain area is not generally possible.

The best exercise for the purpose of fat loss is fast walking either indoors on the treadmill or outdoors. Walk until you are mildly puffing and hold that rate for the allotted time.

If your cardio activities leave you panting or breathless you are going too hard. Your energy will be then coming from your carbohydrate reserves and not from your fat stores.

Nutrition For Weight Loss

By decreasing the amount of calories you eat per day to the weight loss amount, you should start losing weight. Don’t go any lower and check the mirror regularly to judge your progress.

If you don’t have an accurate idea of how many calories you are consuming a day, how will you know whether you’re overeating or not?

So go ahead and try to eat small frequent meals during the day each containing a little protein to maintain muscle and energy levels. Also try to consume foods with vital vitamin and mineral compositions on a daily basis.

We all want to fix a problem as fast as possible – it is human nature. This also applies to overweight people, as they all want a fast fix to lose weight. Many overweight people, younger women especially, think that taking weight loss pills is the easier way to Lose Weight.

Initially, people who take weight loss pills, think that they will have the will power to stick to the recommended dosage but the reality is that a different story. Many weight loss pill users start increasing the prescribed dosage, as they are impatient and want to speed up the rate at which they lose weight. Many grossly overweight people find a last resort in weight loss pills.

Most health care professionals will agree that weight loss pills are effective and do help people. There is however, a real concern about the side effects of these weight loss pills as some of them can be quite nasty side.

The most popular weight loss pills are Reductil and Xenical. They are available through prescription only. Xenical works as a fat buster and hence, less fat is absorbed in the body. Reductil is quite effective as a weight loss pill, but is best for severely overweight or obese people.

Both Reductil and Xenical are a good option for weight loss. Do not make the mistake of thinking that these pills are magical pills. You will not magically lose all your weight overnight. Depending on how much weight you have to lose, it may take months or even years before you reach your target weight. Before you buy any Weight Loss pills, remember to consult your physician.

Side Effects of Xenical:
Urgent or increased need to open the bowels; Flatulence (wind) with discharge; Oily discharge; Oily or fatty stools.

These side effects are found to be mild in nature and occur mostly when a person starts taking Xenical. This is because at the onset of Xenical treatment, your body is not used to fat-inhibitors. But as your body gradually adjusts to the medication, you will see these effects reduce till they disappear completely.

These unpleasant effects of Xenical are particularly experienced after meals containing high levels of fat. Hence, these unpleasant effects disappear if one sticks to recommended diet and continues treatment as usual.

Side Effects of Reductil:

Nervousness, anxiety, mild headache, dizziness, restlessness, insomnia, dry mouth, constipation are some of the less severe side effects. Some Reductil side effects such as allergic reaction, difficulty breathing, closing of the throat, lip swelling, tongue, face, irregular heartbeat, high blood pressure, severe headache, blurred vision or seizures tend to be of severe nature.

Weight loss pills can be dangerous for you as some of them can have mild to severe side effects. Always take prescription weight loss pills while being monitored by a health care professional.

Most importantly you should change your lifestyle in terms of eating habits and physical activity while taking this medicine, so that you are able to maintain your new weight after you have stopped treatment. Your doctor should advise you on the changes you need to make and continue to monitor your weight after you stop treatment. If you don’t change your lifestyle you may regain the weight you have lost.

Three Reasons Why You Fail to Lose Weight Fast

I believe rapid fat loss, and permanent fat loss, is easily accomplished when people have the correct plan in place.

I believe there are three key reasons why people fail to lose weight fast and keep it off. Rapid fat loss is easily achieved once dieters understand these three keys.

The following are my top three reasons why people fail to lose weight fast and keep the unwanted pounds and inches off:

Lack of support:

All the latest research has shown how critical it is for dieters to have a support system in place. When times get tough, and they will, people need to have a community of positive people to turn to that will help them achieve their rapid fat loss goals.

People who seek social support may be 42% more likely to Lose Weight compared to those who do not seek social support. Remember the mindset you are creating … social support is a significant part of your new mindset. Surround yourself with positive people who will be there to help keep you on track.

Where should your social support come from? You shouldn’t always assume that your family members are the best support. Sometimes they are the worst choices! Anyone who has a negative attitude concerning your body weight should not have a role in your social support. Friends or colleagues who also want to lose weight may be good allies because you can work together to keep each other on track.

For starters your social support is the forum and your fellow participants. Of course I always recommend finding your social support in family members or friends as well.

No emphasis on lifestyle changes:

A very big reason people fail to maintain their rapid fat loss for a lifetime is a complete failure to focus on lifestyle changes. Temporary fixes and fad diets need to be replaced by healthy habits and a new self-image. I believe people put too much emphasis on the “lose weight fast” and not enough on the lifestyle changes necessary to keep the pounds from ever coming back.

Lifestyle changes means consuming whole foods that are high in fiber and low in sugar, such as lean protein (lean beef, chicken, fish, whey protein), fruits and vegetables (oranges, apples, strawberries, blueberries, broccoli, peppers, asparagus, carrots), nuts (almonds, cashews, walnuts), and whole grains.

It also means eating low-glycemic carbohydrates, such as vegetables, wholegrain products and oatmeal instead of refined, processed carbohydrates. Refined, process carbs usually come in a box or a bag. Try to eat starches that contains a minimum of 3 grams of fiber per serving.

Paralysis by analysis:

Too often dieters wait for the perfect time or want to have the perfect plan in place before trying to lose weight fast and keep it off. The plan only needs be good enough to get started. It is mandatory to create a Weight Loss plan, but not at the expense of never getting started with rapid fat loss. Create a plan centered around a support community and lifestyle changes and adjust the plan as necessary.
